About MeI am an 8th grade U.S. History teacher. This is my passion. I've been actively engaged in keeping history alive in the hearts and minds of my students for nearly three decades. I strive to empower my students to be digital citizens and positively contribute to a global community.
Beyond the school day, I participate face-to-face and virtual community. Locally, I contribute to Lodi Unified School District level committees and provide digital media professional development courses through Fresno Pacific University. In the community, I support fellow veterans via American Legion Karl Ross Post 16. On the homefront, I am a "fullner" to my husband George Snider. Together we are independent consultants with Nikken. Our association with Nikken promotes our active wellness lifestyle. We relish every moment we have to network with others as we travel the beaches of the world. |

My History |
I was born in San Andreas, California to Randolph and Charlotte Porath on December 5, 1956. My parents and I lived in Valley Springs, California until I finished Kindergarten. As a young girl, I loved afternoon walks down to the creek with my dad where I got to throw rocks. Before I started first grade, we moved to Stockton, California. I attended, Madison Elementary, Webster Jr. High, and Stagg High School. I am a member of the Class of '75. After high school, I attended San Joaquin Delta College and then transferred to San Francisco State University where I received a BA in American Studies and earned my teaching credential. Thanks to Prop. 13, I entered the U.S. Army in 1981 to pay off my student loans. Had it not been for an injury in Basic Training at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, I would have finished 20 years. But when the neurosurgeon asked if there was something else I could do besides be a soldier so I wouldn't end up in a wheelchair, I confessed that I could put my teaching credential to work. While in the Army, I met my first husband, Sidney Eugene Miller, and was blessed with a son, Randolph James Miller. During my first year of teaching in 1990, I had a life changing moment on a field trip; I met George Snider. We were married in 1992. Together, we are have done many fabulous things and we look forward to doing a whole lot more.
